Day 3 London. Morning sightseeing with
a professional London guide includes all the famous landmarks:
Royal Albert Hall, Kensington Palace and the area's splendid
museums, Knightsbridge with Harrods, the Houses of Parliament
and Big Ben beside the River Thames, and Westminster Abbey.
Highlights are a visit to ST. PAUL'S CATHEDRAL and the Changing
of the Guard at Buckingham Palace, if held. Time in the
afternoon for independent activities. Optional excursions are
available to the Tower of London and to Windsor Castle. Tonight
maybe a leisurely cruise on the River Thames? (CB)
Day 4 London-Calais, France-Belgium-Amsterdam, Holland.
Meet your tour director and traveling companions and depart
London. Drive through the orchards of Kent and then enjoy an
exciting Hoverspeed ride across the Channel to France, where
your gleaming Continental touring coach is ready. Travel through
Belgium and the Flanders region on your way to Amsterdam,
Holland's 700-year-old capital. Tonight join your tour director

Day 5 Amsterdam. A local expert takes
you first to the RIJKSMUSEUM where you admire Rembrandt's
masterpieces. Visit a major DIAMOND CENTER to appreciate how a
rough mineral is transformed into a sparkling jewel. And to top
it all, cruise aboard a glass-roofed launch through the canals
of Holland's Golden Age. The afternoon is at leisure, and an
excursion to Volendam can be arranged. (BB)
Day 6 Amsterdam-Rhineland, Germany. A
passing glance at the Dutch region best known as the locale of
A Bridge Too Far on the way to the German
Rhineland. During your early lunchtime break in Cologne, visit
the awesome twin-spired GOTHIC CATHEDRAL. Then the afternoon's
highlight: a cruise on the romantic Rhine, past castle-crested
cliffs, terraced vineyards, and trim, half-timbered towns. (BB,D)
Day 7 Rhineland-Munich. Focus on
Heidelberg, Germany's oldest university town of Student
Prince fame and renowned for its red-walled castle. Next
is fabulous Rothenburg with its ramparts and towers, cobbled
lanes, and 16th-century houses. Time for sightseeing and lunch
before you drive along the Romantic Road to medieval Nördlingen
and on towards the Danube Valley and Munich. (BB,D)
Day 8 Munich. An expertly guided tour
of Germany's "secret capital" includes the Olympic Stadium,
1,000-foot-high Television Tower, Nymphenburg Palace,
Marienplatz with the Old and New Town Hall, and the Gothic
Frauenkirche. Also visit the OLD PINAKOTHEK with its precious
collection of paintings by Dürer, Cranach, Rubens, and other
great masters. Afternoon at leisure; ask your tour director for

Day 9 Munich-Innsbruck, Austria-Liechtenstein-Lucerne,
Switzerland. Stunning mountain views all
along the road from Bavaria to the Austrian Tyrol. In Innsbruck
take a pleasant stroll through quaint medieval lanes to Emperor
Maximilian's Golden Roof. Afternoon break is in the pocket-sized
principality of Liechtenstein known for its fancy postage
stamps. Spend the next two nights in Lucerne in the alpine heart
of Switzerland. (BB,D)
Day 10 Lucerne. Medieval heritage every
step of the way this morning. Sightseeing includes the LION
MONUMENT, a masterful stone sculpture in honor of the heroic
Swiss Guard of Louis XVI; the famous covered WOODEN BRIDGE; and
ornate patrician houses of the walled Old Town. Afterwards shop
for Swiss watches and choose from our optional activities: climb
a mountain by cable car; take a cruise on the fjord-like lake;
sign up for a folklore party with yodeling and alphorn blowing
for a first-hand impression of alpine merrymaking. (BB)
Day 11 Lucerne-Paris, France. More
typical Swiss vistas of tidy villages and prosperous dairy farms
on the way to the French border near Basle. Then a fast ride on
the modern highway skirting the vineyards of Burgundy and
Fontainebleau Forest. Tonight you are in Paris, the traditional
climax of every European tour. (BB)
Day 12 Paris. See the sights on both
banks of the Seine: Arc de Triomphe, Opéra, Madeleine, Louvre,
Champs-Elysées... For a panoramic view take the elevator to the
first floor of the EIFFEL TOWER. Of course you also visit Paris'
greatest treasure, the Gothic cathedral of NOTRE DAME with its
gleaming stained-glass windows. Balance of the day at leisure
and lots to do. Optional excursions are available to the Louvre
or to the palace and gardens of Versailles, and to celebrate the
success of your tour, a lively cabaret show might be just the
