Day 1 (Sat.) Board your overnight transatlantic flight.

Day 2 Arrival in London, England. (Sun.) Uniformed Globus hosts are available to help you make the most of your stay.

Day 3 London. (Mon.) Morning sightseeing with a professional London guide includes all the famous landmarks: Royal Albert Hall, Kensington Palace and the area's splendid museums, Knightsbridge with Harrods, the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben beside the River Thames, and Westminster Abbey. Highlights are a visit to ST. PAUL'S CATHEDRAL and the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace, if held. Afternoon at leisure. (CB)

Day 4 London-Calais, France-Brussels, Belgium. (Tue.) Meet your tour director and traveling companions and depart London. Drive through the orchards of Kent and then enjoy an exciting Hoverspeed ride across the Channel to France. On through Flanders to Brussels, headquarters of the European Union. Your orientation tour focuses on Grand' Place with its Baroque guild houses, and famous Mannekin-Pis. Tonight join your tour director for a toast to happy touring. (CB,D)

Day 5 Brussels-Rhineland, Germany. (Wed.) Leave the proud capital of Belgium and head for Germany. During your early lunchtime break in Cologne visit the awesome twin-spired GOTHIC CATHEDRAL. Then the afternoon's highlight: a cruise on the romantic Rhine, past castle-crested cliffs, terraced vineyards, and trim, half-timbered towns. Next stop is Heidelberg, famous for its red-walled castle. (BB,D)

Day 6 Rhineland-Lucerne, Switzerland. (Thu.) A scenic day! Morning in the lush valleys and pine-clad hills of the Black Forest, renowned for its cuckoo clocks. On the Swiss border take your pictures of the thundering RHINE FALLS, then continue to picture-book Lucerne. (BB,D)

Day 7 Lucerne. (Fri.) Sightseeing features Thorwaldsen's LION MONUMENT, the famous covered WOODEN BRIDGE, and ornate patrician houses of the walled Old Town. Afterwards shop for Swiss watches and choose from our optional activities: climb a mountain by cable car; take a cruise on the fjord-like lake; sign up for a folklore party with yodeling and alphorn blowing for a first-hand impression of alpine merrymaking. Day 8 Lucerne-Liechtenstein-Innsbruck, Austria. (Sat.) Morning break in the pocket-sized principality of Liechtenstein. On over scenic Arlberg Pass to Innsbruck, Austria's Olympic winter sports resort. Take a pleasant walk through quaint medieval lanes to Emperor Maximilian's Golden Roof. (BB,D)

Day 9 Innsbruck-Venice, Italy. (Sun.) The spectacular Brenner Pass leads through the barrier of the Tyrolean Alps to Italy. Enter Venice in style as you glide by private boat along the Giudecca canal to meet your resident expert. Highlights of your walking tour are St. Mark's Square, the Clock Tower, the BYZANTINE BASILICA with its 1,000-year-old gem-studded gold altar piece, lavish Doges' Palace, and the Bridge of Sighs. Also watch skilled GLASS BLOWERS fashion their delicate objects. Later wander at whim, or join an optional gondola serenade on the romantic canals. (BB,D)

Day 10 Venice-Ravenna-Assisi. (Mon.) Along the coastline of the Adriatic Sea to Ravenna. Here see the famous mosaics in the 6th-century BASILICA OF ST. APOLLINARIS IN CLASSE. In the afternoon arrive in Assisi and visit the massive 13th-century BASILICA OF ST. FRANCIS built above the saint's grave. Time afterwards to enjoy the peaceful town at your own pace. (BB,D)

Day 11 Assisi-Naples. (Tue.) South through the rolling Campagna Romana. Today's highlight visit is to POMPEII, the Roman city both destroyed and preserved by an eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D. See patrician homes, public baths, and commercial districts strikingly recalling day-to-day life when Rome was at the apex of her power. Overnight in Naples. (BB,D)

Day 12 Naples. Excursion to Capri. (Wed.) Speed across the Bay of Naples to the beautiful Isle of Capri, a royal retreat for 2,000 years. A local guide takes you to the shimmering BLUE GROTTO (weather permitting; otherwise visit VILLA SAN MICHELE in Anacapri), and up to pretty Capri village. Stroll about at your own pace before crossing the bay to the charming resort of Sorrento. Plenty of time to check out the local shops or discover its lively center. Then back to Naples. (BB)

Day 13 Naples-Rome. (Thu.) Focus on Naples, Italy's liveliest city. A local guide takes you to the NATIONAL ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM, one of the world's richest in Greco-Roman treasures. Proceed to the city center and admire the remarkable Triumphal Arch of the New Castle, St. Charles Theater, the Royal Palace, Galleria Umberto, and the semicircular Piazza del Plebiscito. Then drive up to Posillipo Hill for a sweeping vista of the Bay of Naples. This afternoon head north to the Eternal City. (BB)

Day 14 Rome. (Fri.) Sightseeing with your local guide starts with a visit to the VATICAN MUSEUMS and SISTINE CHAPEL (closed during some religious functions), world famous for Michelangelo's ceiling paintings including The Last Judgement. Continue to monumental ST. PETER'S SQUARE and BASILICA. Proceed across the Tiber for a stroll along the Via Sacra at the ROMAN FORUM, where Roman Legions marched in triumph, and finally visit the COLOSSEUM and hear about gladiatorial combats. Then time for independent activities and exciting optional excursion possibilities: Tivoli, and an Italian feast at one of the fine restaurants. (BB)

Day 15 Rome-Florence. (Sat.) Board the high-speed Eurostar train for a thrilling ride back north to Florence, cradle of the Renaissance. See magnificent SANTA MARIA DEL FIORE, Giotto's Bell Tower, the Baptistry's heavy bronze "Gate of Paradise," and sculpture-studded Signoria Square. To top it off, admire Michelangelo's celebrated David in the GALLERY OF FINE ARTS. Take a moment to check out the enticing shops with Florentine leather goods and gold jewelry. (BB,D)

Day 16 Florence-Monaco-Nice, France. (Sun.) Focus on Pisa this morning for pictures of its amazing Leaning Tower. Then a scenic drive past a string of Italian and French Riviera resorts to the principality of Monaco. Here leave the highway for the panoramic Moyenne Corniche. Before arriving in Nice visit one of the PERFUME FACTORIES for which the area is famous. Optional outing tonight to the Casino of Monte Carlo. (BB)

Day 17 Nice. French Riviera Excursion. (Mon.) Follow the glittering shores of the Côte d'Azur to Cannes, opulent resort of film festivals, millionaire yachtsmen, and bikinied beauties. On the inland route back to Nice visit the picturesque hilltop town of St. Paul de Vence. Then a lazy afternoon to dabble in the blue Mediterranean or stroll along the elegant Promenade des Anglais. Day 18 Nice-Lyon. (Tue.) Leave the Riviera for a drive through one of France's loveliest areas. Enjoy views of the Var Valley on your way to Entrevaux. Then scenic Route Napoleon along the foothills of the French Alps, the road chosen by Napoleon I on his return to Paris from exile in Elba. Overnight in Lyon, the country's second-largest city. Day 19 Lyon-Paris. (Wed.) Follow the valley of the River Saône into Burgundy, where road signs read like the wine list of an expensive restaurant. Leave the highway for a look at the vineyards and villages where some of the world's most precious wines are produced. After a break in pretty Beaune proceed on the highway via Fontainebleau Forest to Paris, the traditional climax of a European tour. Take the elevator to the first floor of the EIFFEL TOWER for a bird's-eye view. (BB)

Day 20 Paris. (Thu.) See the sights on both banks of the Seine: Arc de Triomphe, Opéra, Madeleine, Louvre, Champs-Elysées... Of course you also visit Paris' greatest treasure, the Gothic cathedral of NOTRE DAME with its gleaming stained-glass windows. Balance of the day at leisure. Optional excursions to the Louvre or to the Sun King's palace of Versailles are available. For a memorable last night in France, a lively cabaret show might be just the ticket. (BB)
