sightseeing with a professional London guide includes all the
famous landmarks: Royal Albert Hall, Kensington Palace and the
area's splendid museums, Knightsbridge with Harrods, the Houses
of Parliament and Big Ben beside the River Thames, and
Westminster Abbey. Highlights are a visit to ST. PAUL'S
CATHEDRAL and the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace, if
held. Time in the afternoon for independent activities. Optional
excursions are available to the Tower of London and to Windsor
Castle. Tonight maybe a leisurely cruise on the River Thames?

Day 4 London-Calais, France-Belgium-Amsterdam, Holland.
(Tue.) Meet your tour director and traveling
companions and depart London. Drive through the orchards of Kent
and then enjoy an exciting Hoverspeed ride across the Channel to
France, where your gleaming Continental touring coach is ready.
Travel through Belgium and the Flanders region on your way to
Amsterdam, Holland's 700-year-old capital. Tonight join your

Day 5 Amsterdam. (Wed.) A local expert
takes you to the RIJKSMUSEUM where you admire Rembrandt's
masterpieces. Visit a major DIAMOND CENTER to appreciate how a
rough mineral is transformed into a sparkling jewel. And to top
it all, cruise aboard a glass-roofed launch through the canals
of Holland's Golden Age. The afternoon is at leisure, and an

Day 6 Amsterdam-Rhineland, Germany.
(Thu.) A passing glance at the Dutch region best known as the
locale of A Bridge Too Far on the way to Germany.
During your early lunchtime break in Cologne, visit the awesome
twin-spired GOTHIC CATHEDRAL.Then the afternoon's highlight: a
cruise on the romantic Rhine, past castle-crested cliffs,
terraced vineyards, and trim, half-timbered towns. Next stop is
Heidelberg, famous for its red-walled castle. (BB,D)
Day 7 Rhineland-Oberammergau. (Fri.)
Leisurely morning break in spectacular Rothenburg with its
ramparts and towers, cobbled lanes, and 16th-century houses.
South along the most scenic part of the Romantic Road towards
the Danube Valley and Munich, Germany's "secret capital." Your
orientation tour features the Olympic Stadium, 1,000-foot-high
Television Tower, Nymphenburg Palace, and Marienplatz with the
Old and New Town Hall. Spend the next two nights in the quaint
Passion Play village of Oberammergau, beautifully situated in
the garden-like landscape of the Bavarian Alps. (BB,D)
Day 8 Oberammergau. Bavarian Excursion.
(Sat.) Focus on NEUSCHWANSTEIN, Germany's premier tourist
attraction. Visit mad King Ludwig's fairy-tale castle on its
craggy outcrop high above a sparkling lake. Afternoon at leisure
in Oberammergau, with the chance to join an optional excursion

Day 9 Oberammergau-Innsbruck, Austria-Venice, Italy.
(Sun.) Morning break in Innsbruck, capital of the Austrian
Tyrol. Stroll through quaint medieval lanes to Emperor
Maximilian's Golden Roof. Due south on the spectacular Brenner
Pass road across the mighty barrier of the Tyrolean Alps.
Another break in Cortina, Italy's skiing and mountaineering
center beneath the jagged limestone towers of the Dolomites.
Then on to Venice, the celebrated "Pearl of the Adriatic."
Tonight is your chance to sample the city's fine restaurants.

Day 10 Venice. (Mon.) Start the day in
style as you glide by private boat along the Giudecca canal to
meet your resident expert. Highlights of your walking tour are
St. Mark's Square and the Byzantine splendor of ST. MARK'S
BASILICA, lavish DOGES' PALACE, and the Bridge of Sighs. Also
watch VENETIAN GLASS BLOWERS fashion their delicate objects in
an age-old traditional manner. Then enjoy Venice at your own
pace, or join an optional gondola ride. (BB,D)
Day 11 Venice-Lucerne, Switzerland.
(Tue.) Through the lush Lombardian plains, past the commercial
center of Milan, into Italian-speaking southern Switzerland.
Free time in flower-festooned Lugano for lunch and a stroll in
the shade of Parco Ciani's magnificent old trees. Admire the
towering majesty of the Swiss Alps on the way over
6,935-foot-high St. Gotthard Pass and through William Tell
country to the captivating charm of Lucerne. (BB,D)
Day 12 Lucerne. (Wed.) Medieval
heritage every step of the way this morning. Sightseeing
includes the LION MONUMENT, a masterful stone sculpture in honor
of the heroic Swiss Guard of Louis XVI; the famous covered
WOODEN BRIDGE; and ornate patrician houses of the walled Old
Town. Afterwards shop for Swiss watches and choose from our
optional activities: climb a mountain by cable car; take a
cruise on the fjord-like lake; sign up for a folklore party with
yodeling and alphorn blowing for a first-hand impression of

Day 13 Lucerne-Paris, France. (Thu.)
More typical Swiss vistas of tidy villages and prosperous dairy
farms on the way to the French border near Basle. Then a fast
ride on the modern highway skirting the vineyards of Burgundy
and Fontainebleau Forest. Tonight you are in Paris, the
traditional climax of every European tour. (BB)
Day 14 Paris. (Fri.) See the sights on
both banks of the Seine: Arc de Triomphe, Opéra, Madeleine,
Louvre, Champs-Elysées... For a panoramic view take the elevator
to the first floor of the EIFFEL TOWER. Of course you also visit
Paris' greatest treasure, the Gothic cathedral of NOTRE DAME
with its gleaming stained-glass windows. Balance of the day at
leisure and lots to do. Optional excursions are available to the
Louvre or to the palace and gardens of Versailles, and to
celebrate the success of your tour, a lively cabaret show might
